With interdisciplinary research proposals becoming ever more complex and competitive, it is increasingly important to undertake proper planning in advance of funding calls. With the support of the Strategic and Institutional Research Initiatives (SIRI) team, this session provides participants with an overview of how best to select, apply for, and manage large scale multi-disciplinary/multi-organizational grants. We will examine two special cases in proposal development – the Network Centres of Excellence (NCE) and the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) – with discussions led by a panel of successful grantees who will share their best practice strategies. Topics covered will include team facilitation, budget development, writing and editing, and project management.
